How To Make Your Own Star Wars Crawl

I came across a tutorial from Mad Brew Labs on using Windows Movie Maker to create a Star Wars crawl in around 10 minutes. All the files needed can be obtained using the Mad Brew Labs link.

What is a Star Wars crawl? This completed project will answer this question.

To make it even easier, this Windows Movie Maker file can be used as a template.

WARNING: YouTube, Facebook, and other online services may disable the audio or even reject an entire video for copyright violations. Be careful if you intend to put your video online. (click here for an example)

Windows Movie Maker separates the files like this…imageThe Storyboard has 3 sections which include the Video/Pictures, Audio/Music, and Title Overlay. Any of these items can be stretched across the time bar. I’ve done this with the background image used for the space scenery so it stretches across the time bar to the 1 minute mark. I started the music to lineup with the 2nd title in the Storyboard and moved the duration to end at the 1 minute mark. Last thing I did was stretch the 3rd title to the 1 minute mark as well. Now the image, music, and crawl all end at 1 minute.

imageUse the Fade Out option which can be found by right-clicking the music file in the Storyboard to keep the final video from ending abruptly.

The final step to completing your project is to save the file. This is done by selecting Save Movie File from the File menuimage.

Now your video is ready and can be sent to friends and family or used as an intro to the next slideshow of your kayaking trip.
